From the 2023 Educational Interiors Showcase: Central Elementary
Kelloggsville Public Schools replaced an outdated building with a new Central Elementary School. The facility has tall ceilings, separate wings for each grade level, and plenty of natural light. The two design schemes generated for the project were named “Playful Skies” and “Ready to Launch.’’ The design team was inspired by Kelloggsville’s “Rocket Pride” mantra and wanted the building design to inspire students to look upward toward bright futures. The two-story foyer, the “Rocket Silo,” hosts a skylight and a curved staircase to the second floor. The staggered brick texture creates visual interest above the stair that reinforces the idea of upward movement.
