From the 2024 Educational Interiors Showcase: Lake Zurich Young Adult Center Renovation

A redesigned office building in Lake Zurich, Illinois, provides a specialized and more positive social-emotional environment for students with Individualized Education Plans who have completed their graduation requirements and are eligible for transition services. The ground level holds a kitchen where students take part in hands-on learning, and the commons area is designed to enhance students’ technological literacy and social skills. Upstairs, a classroom and living skills lab are complemented by administrative offices. The lower level has a vocational classroom, laundry facilities, and a workout space.
