The East Aurora (N.Y.) school district is being sued by a teacher who chose not to comply with Covid-19 vaccination requirements.

WKBW-TV Channel 7 News reports that Colin Shoemaker, an English teacher at East Aurora High School, contends in the lawsuit that the district failed to negotiate a change in working conditions after it required employees to show proof of a Covid-19 vaccination or submit to a weekly diagnostic test.

He also asserts that the New York State Union of Teachers has failed to properly represent him in his conflict with the district.

The teachers union and the district superintendent are among those named as defendants in the suit .

The district has placed Shoemaker on unpaid leave, the lawsuit says.

Shoemaker is seeking $3.2 million in damages.
