District accused of kicking out students because of their race

From The Detroit Free Press: Two former Detroit police officers, Lawrence and Trina Chatfield, are suing the Grosse Pointe (Mich.) Public School System, two police departments and a former school residency officer for kicking their three children out of school in 2008. School officials say the family didn't live in the district. The Chatfields say they did and that the kids were removed because they were black. The school district and other defendants have denied the charges, saying a residency investigation in 2008 showed the family rented a flat in Grosse Pointe Park but didn't live there.
