Two elementary schools in East Baton Rouge (La.) Parish will go year-round

Students eventually will attend 222 days of classes
Feb. 19, 2010
From The Baton Rouge Advocate: The East Baton Rouge Parish (La.) School Board has voted to make Claiborne and Park elementary schools year-round schools starting next fall. Superintendent John Dilworth wants to test year-round education at Claiborne and Park before trying the idea at more schools. Children attending the two schools will increase their time in the classroom from 180 days to 212 days in 2010-11 school year and increase again to 222 days the following school year. Families that would rather not have such a long school year for their children will be able to transfer their children to other elementary schools.
