Voters reject high school upgrade in Pennsylvania district

$35 million would have paid for improvements in Tuscarora district
Sept. 10, 2008
TheTuscarora School District in Mercersburg, Pa., has failed to win approval of a $35 million bond proposal. The money would have enabled the district to renovate James Buchanan High School. The upgrades would have included a new heating and air conditioning system, new windows, a new roof and new lockers. The school's swimming pool would have been updated and the room would have been expanded to hold spectators. The school also would have received cosmetic upgrades, and the district's administrative offices would have been moved to a corner of the building.
