New Jersey governor wants to expedite charter school approval process

Sept. 3, 2009
Changes would shorten process to 11 months instead of 18 months

From newjerseynewsroom.com: New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine is recommending to the state Board of Education adopt a process that will expedite approval of new charter schools. He says speeding up the process would cut the approval time from 18 months to about 11 months. Since 2006, the number of charter schools in New Jersey has increased by 34 percent and student enrollment in charters rose almost 55 percent, the governor says.
