Diocese is paying district $569,000 to provide meals at 8 Catholic schools
From The Memphis Commercial Appeal: The Catholic Diocese of Memphis is outsourcing its school nutrition program, paying the Memphis school district more than a half-million dollars a year to feed 1,500 students. The district is providing breakfast, lunches and light snacks to 12 of the diocese's schools, including eight inner-city Jubilee schools. The contract is worth $569,000. Under federal guidelines, school lunches now must include more fresh fruits and whole grains.
