A former Los Angeles Unified School District administrator has pleaded not guilty to federal felony fraud charges. The U.S. attorney's office says Matthias Vheru, 51, allegedly spent $3.7 million of the district's federal funds on math instruction materials—a purchase that netted him nearly $1 million in royalties and other payments.
