Most layoffs are at 4 schools that the state is taking over

From The Indianapolis Star: The Indianapolis School Board has approved the layoffs of 163 employees, including 94 teachers. The action was part of a plan to cut an additional $27 million from next school year's budget, driven primarily by the removal of four schools from district that are now under state takeover. The vast majority of the layoffs were at those schools. Donnan Middle School, Howe Community High School and Manual High School will be run independently next year by Charter Schools USA, and Arlington Community High School will be managed by EdPower. Some teachers at the takeover schools have been offered jobs at other district campuses, and some have accepted positions with the takeover organizations.
