Loudoun County (Va.) board rejects land purchase

The Loudoun County (Va.) Board of Supervisors has rejected a $19 million plan to buy land for a middle school and a high school. The majority in the 5-to-4 vote voiced concerns that the 99-acre property in southern Loudoun County was overpriced and too far from communities it would serve. With about 57,000 students, the Loudoun school system is the fastest-growing in the Washington, D.C., area. The school system has been looking into the site since March 2007and has invested about $1 million in surveying and preparation costs.To read The Washington Post article, click here.
