East Baton Rouge board votes to rebuild high school at existing location

A replacement Lee High School would cost $58.5 million and open in 2015
Nov. 2, 2012

From The Baton Rouge Advocate: The East Baton Rouge Parish (La.) School Board has recommended rebuilding Lee High School at its existing site in Baton Rouge. Superintendent Bernard Taylor urged the board to rebuild the school at its existing location at an estimated cost of $58.5 million. Some board members have suggested building the school at another location, but such a move likely would delay construction for a year. However, such a move would allow the recently reopened high school to remain at its current location while construction occurred elsewhere. Several prominent alumni of Lee High have pressed the district to rebuild the school in its historic location.
