Batavia (Ohio) district moves forward on bond plans

District wants to put bond issue for new elementary on November ballot
July 27, 2009

From The Cincinnati Enquirer: The Batavia (Ohio) School Board is edging closer to placing a bond issue on the November ballot to build a new elementary school on land the district owns at the high school. The school board is asking the Clermont County auditor to determine millage amounts for $13.2 million, $13.6 million and $13.9 million. Once board members have the figures, they'll be asked to vote to place the bond issue on the ballot. The new school would cost about $26 million; the Ohio School Facilities Commission would contribute about half if a bond issue passes. Last August, voters defeated a $34.7 million bond issue to build new elementary and middle schools, plus renovate and build a high school addition.
