Miami school police protest cuts
Faced with job cuts and a reduced work schedule, Miami-Dade Schools police officers plan to stage a protest outside this week's board meeting. The protest comes as Miami-Dade Schools tries to cut $284 million from its budget before next school year. Contract negotiations between the union and School Board administration have been stalled for months. The district plans to eliminate 33 police department positions, along with 12 sworn police officers. It also wants to have officers work only 10 months a year.
