Nevada seeks moratorium on new charters

State education department says it doesn't have the staff or resources to sponsor new charters

Facing a shortage of staff and resources, the Nevada Education Department wants a moratorium on sponsorship of new charter schools. The request follows a Clark County School Board vote last month to curtail its sponsorship of new charter schools and shift the burden of sponsorship to the state. Last year the Washoe County School Board issued a moratorium, capping its total at six.
