$4.8 million security upgrade will help district bolster school safety
From The Reno Gazette-Journal: The Washoe County (Nev.) School District is in the midst of a construction project that will secure every one of its elementary, middle and high schools with fences and install new locks on classroom doors. The $4.8 million fencing project is set to be completed by May 2014 with 6-foot chain-link fences around each school, Work at 36 schools have been completed, and work is not yet completed at another 56 schools. The fences will improve safety, the district says, by establishing a single entry to deter unauthorized visitors and making school lockdowns easier.
