Falloff in sales tax revenue means district must scale back construction projects
From The Baton Rouge Advocate: A sharp falloff in sales tax revenue in 2009 is forcing the East Baton Rouge Parish (La.) school system to scale down hundreds of millions of dollars worth of planned construction between now and 2019. Superintendent John Dilworth has released some initial proposals calling, among other things, for closing Banks, Brookstown and Polk elementary schools in May, and drastically rewriting construction plans and attendance zones in the Scotlandville area.
