Board races could determine future of year-round campuses in Wake County (N.C.) district

Candidates who support neighborhood schools and criticize Wake's school diversity policy and annual round of student reassignments also have embraced voluntary attendance at year-round schools as part of their campaign message. These candidates could back Wake away from its decision, upheld in May by the state Supreme Court, to send students to year-round schools without securing parents' permission.
