Money will pay for 13 projects, including life sciences building for University of Alaska

From The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner: Alaska voters have approved $397 million of education bonds. The package, which includes 13 projects scattered around the state, is the largest education bond proposal in the history of the state. The centerpiece of the package is $88 million for a long-sought life sciences building at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The University of Alaska has sought money for the life sciences building for more than a decade, but repeatedly had come up dry.

OCTOBER 2010...from The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner: A $397.2 million bond plan is on the ballot next month in Alaska. It is focused largely on education — half would fund university projects, including the proposed Life Sciences Classroom and Laboratory Facility project at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The measure also would finance a pool for the Mount Edgecumbe boarding school near Sitka, three new K-12 schools in Western, part of a new state museum and archive in Juneau and a handful of other projects.
