Royal Oak (Mich.) system has eliminated busing for 1,800 students
From The Detroit Free Press: Looking to cut costs, the Royal Oak (Mich.) district has ended busing for about 1,800 general-education students. Royal Oak Superintendent Tom Moline says the busing elimination is an attempt to avoid increasing class sizes or cutting academic programs. Other districts in the Detroit area are considering slashing busing to save money, though few have done it.
