Student housing has become more popular in San Antonio area

Although most students still are commuters, on-campus living has grown significantly
May 23, 2011

From The San Antonio Express-News: Over the past decade, the number of students living on college campuses in Bexar County, Texas, has increased significantly, according to new housing-related census data. An analysis shows the number of students living in residence halls rose 76 percent from 2000 to 2010. Although San Antonio remains largely a city of college commuters, higher-education officials foresee building more residence halls for those who seek a fuller university experience. At the University of Texas at San Antonio, campus dwellers have doubled since 2000 to 3,700, or 12 percent of the university's 30,000 enrollment.
