Voters in four New Jersey school districts have rejected school construction proposals. Three other districts voted in favor of projects. Proposals failed in the Oaklyn, Delsea Regional, Deptford Township and Washington Township districts. A $1.8 million renovation proposal in the Elk Township district was approved.

EARLIER: On March 11, Deptford (N.J.) residents will be asked a second time to approve a $75 million bond referendum to increase district seating capacity, implement new heating and ventilation systems, and fund various renovations in the school district.

FROM DECEMBER 2007: Voters have rejected a $75.5 million school-improvement plan in Deptford Township, N.J. The package consisted of two ballot proposals. One called for a new wing at the middle school, classroom additions at the high school and renovations to all other facilities except Central School. The other proposal sought funds to add stadium lighting and wireless Internet access at the high school, among other changes.
