New owner had hoped to convert school to a residence for seniors
June 16, 2009

From The Bennington Banner: A judge has issued a court order approving foreclosure on property in Bennington, Vt., that once housed a middle and high school. Green Mountain Senior Living, owner of the decrepit structure, owes about $436,000 on the property. The exterior of the school is in great disrepair, and the inside is as bad, or worse, according to town officials. The building's owner, Ed Levitt, has maintained he is planning to renovate the building into a residence for seniors. Levitt purchased the property from the Mount Anthony Union School District for $200,000 in 2004.
