From The Cleveland Plain Dealer: Six prospective charter school operators have applied to start 10 new schools in Cleveland. school officials long viewed the privately run, publicly funded charters as competition for students and state aid. But the district's new academic "transformation plan" calls for embracing the schools and promoting them as options.
The district is offering to let charters lease its buildings for little or no rent, or share them with traditional schools. Most of the applicants expressed interest in that possibility.
