200-acre tract also would house a visitors center and future educational projects
Oct. 13, 2009

From The Nashville Tennessean: Trustees at the University of Tennessee have approved the acquisition of 200 acres in West Tennessee to house a solar power generation plant and educational center. The federal government last month approved $31 million in stimulus money to pay for the solar project about 50 miles northeast of Memphis. The solar array is expected to take up 20 acres and have a capacity of five megawatts, enough to generate power for about 700 homes. The remaining space would be taken up by the visitors center, parking and future educational and research projects.
