From The Sacramento Bee: A former school janitor in Placerville, Calif., has been convicted of first-degree murder in the 2011 shooting death of popular school principal Sam LaCara. Staff members and parents from Louisiana Schnell Elementary School, where LaCara, 50, was principal, shared tearful hugs after the verdict was read. John Luebbers faces 25 years to life in prison, and possible sentence enhancements could add 25 years. Prosecutors say the shooting stemmed from a disagreement over the hiring of a night janitor at the school. LaCara sent Luebbers home to cool off, but the janitor returned with a gun, entered LaCara's office and opened fire.
