Budget shortfall could force cuts of as much as 10 percent
From The Raleigh News & Observer: The University of North Carolina system may have to eliminate hundreds of jobs next year to help bridge the state's massive budget gap. Public universities have put plans together to deal with budget cuts of 5 percent and 10 percent for 2011-12. A 10 percent cut could lead to 2,000 job cuts across the university system, including 1,000 faculty members, according to data discussed by the system's Board of Governors.
