Burke County (N.C.) board bans corporal punishment of students

District was one of 17 in the state that still allowed the practice

From WSOC-TV: The Burke County (N.C.) school district has voted to end corporal punishment of students. With the board's action, only 16 out of 117 school districts in North Carolina allow corporal punishment. Those numbers have been declining over the past few years as more and more districts opt to end the practice.
