Memphis shuts down charter school

Board revokes charter of school that fell short of federal performance benchmarks.

Next Monday was to be the start of Jerod Davidson's senior year at Yo! Academy in Memphis. He had been with the school since it opened its doors in spring 2004. But now, he must find a new school. The Memphis school board has revoked the charter for Yo! Academy because it had failed to meet math benchmarks for the federal No Child Left Behind law two years in a row.
