Texas district may close environmental studies center
The Richardson (Texas) district has operated an environmental studies center for 30 years. It was one of the first of its kind in North Texas , but it may fall victim to the district's budget woes. School board members are talking about closing the center, along with a district-run planetarium. Next year's budget in Richardson is projected to have an $873,000 deficit. The nature center eats up about $200,000 of the school district's annual $250 million budget.
