Chicago will maintain high school class sizes

District says it won't need to follow through with plans to boost class size
Aug. 16, 2010

From The Chicago Sun-Times: Chicago high school class sizes will be restored to normal for opening day Sept. 7, thanks to an infusion of new federal cash, schools CEO Ron Huberman says. If the district does not receive $105 million from a new federal educator jobs bill by Sept. 7, Huberman says he will tap a special line of credit of up to $800 million. Officials had been considering an increase in high school class sizes to 33 students from 31 students.
