The initial cost estimate for building the University of Washington's new Business School is 40 percent over budget, an overrun that could require some features of the long-awaited facility to be revised. The $61.5 million construction estimate by the general contractor is about $17.7 million more than university officials had set aside. Business School officials say they don't want to cut amenities from the 120,000-square-foot building. The new building is key to their plan of entering the top tier of business schools.
