Portland (Ore.) district opens elementary facility

Riverdale Grade School building replaces 1920s-era space
Oct. 8, 2010

From The Portland Oregonian: Riverdale Grade School in Portland, Ore., has opened its new main building. The $20 million facility was designed to be modern, but to include nods to the original 1920s-era schoolhouse. Designers took pains to make the new building reminiscent of the beloved schoolhouse. Artifacts from the original structure were incorporated into the new building, including the cupola, latticework, brickwork from the entry and arched windows.
