Mount Clemens (Mich.) district to build community center

District steps in after city is unable to build facility.

The Mount Clemens (Mich.) school district plans to build a community center with more than 10,000 square feet that is to include a gymnasium, a computer center and meeting rooms. The building is set for completion by late August. The school district took on the project last year after the Mount Clemens City Commission determined that the building would be too costly to operate. The district was on the verge of losing $1.8 million in federal funding allocated for construction of the center if it didn't move the plans forward. The architect is Partners in Architecture.
