Minnesota superintendent stops publication of high school newspaper

Students at Faribault High would let superintendent to review an article
Dec. 16, 2008

The superintendent of theFaribault (Minn.) School District has shut down publication of the high school newspaper. The move came after student editors of the publication, the Echo, refused to let the superintendent review the publication — specifically an article about the investigation of middle school teacher Shelly Prieve — prior to the paper’s printing. The article in question would mirror the one published in the Faribault Daily News last week. That article detailed the dual police and district investigation into Prieve that stemmed from a parent’s complaint over inappropriate communication between the science teacher and a student.
