Some want temporary high school merger to become permanent

Vandalism forced two schools in North Forest (Texas) district to share campus

Students at Forest Brook High School in Houston have attended rival Smiley High School all semester after vandals broke into Forest Brook, turned on the fire hoses and caused about $2 million in damage. North Forest district officials say Forest Brook students should be able to return to their campus after winter break, but with enrollment at both campuses dropping again this year, some taxpayers say it is time to combine the cash-strapped district's two high schools.
