Private developers are planning to build a 37-story student housing tower in downtownChicago. The developers are seeking a zoning change that would let them build the 1,221-bed facility. It would be adjacent to a former office building that was converted last year into student housing. Combined, the existing and proposed housing would comprise 1,677 beds, making it the second-largest student housing project in the city, after the nearby 1,720-bed University Center. The architect is Solomon Cordwell Buenz.
