More charter schools coming to New Orleans

State-run Recovery District plans to have 47 charters and 23 traditional schools in 2010-11
May 6, 2010
From The New Orleans Times-Picayune: Charter schools will outnumber traditional schools two to one in the New Orleans Recovery School District in 2010-11, in an effort to rapidly shrink the roster of schools under the state-run district's direct control. All told, the Recovery School District plans to have 47 charter schools next school year, and no more than 23 traditional schools, compared with 37 charters and 33 traditional programs this year. The Orleans Parish (La.) School Board will continue to operate 12 charters and four traditional schools.
