Bids for new school too high in Texas district
The Judson (Texas) Independent School District cannot afford to accept any of the five bids that came in for construction f of an elementary schools but Superintendent Willis Mackey says he will get the district its school. Bids for construction of the school—the second of three called for in a 2006 bond proposal—ranged from $15.45 million to $17.13 million. The district overspent on the first elementary covered in the bond issue and now has roughly $33 million to cover both construction and other costs at the other two schools.
