Oregon school a step closer to demolition

Hillsboro district plans to tear down 81-year-old J.B. Thomas Middle School

J.B. Thomas Middle School in Hillsboro, Ore., is another step closer to demolition despite a plea from Friends of the Old School to save the 81-year-old building. The Hillsboro School Board has awarded a $978,000 bid to tear down the school, scheduled for July 1. The school district says it would be too expensive to renovate and upgrade the facility. It plans to use the land for sports fields.
