Florida pulls funding from academically failing charter school

Florida education officials have pulled funding to a Lauderdale Lakes charter high school, guaranteeing its closure. About 400 students at Smart School Institute of Technology and Commerce must transfer. Hundreds of middle school students at the charter school's sister campuses now must find a different high school to attend. Smart School received three F's in four years on its annual report card from the state and must be closed, Florida Education Commissioner Eric Smith says.
