Feds agree to rebuild elementary in Jefferson Parish, La.

Woodmere Elementary has been closed since Hurricane Katrina inflicted severe damage
March 24, 2008

Woodmere Elementary School in Harvey, La., has been shuttered and stuck in limbo for more than two years, since Hurricane Katrina stripped off its roof and flooded its rooms with rainwater. This decision makes Woodmere the second school in the 86-school Jefferson Parish public school system to be targeted for demolition post-Katrina. Terrytown Elementary, which also suffered from water damage and mold, was reduced to rubble last fall.
