Renewable energy credits cover 100 percent of American University's electricity usage

Washington, D.C., institution uses 53 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year

News release: American University in Washington, D.C., has bought wind-generated renewable energy credits equivalent to 100 percent of the university’s 53 million kilowatt hours of annual electricity usage, the school says. This purchase has an impact equivalent to planting 451,434 mature trees in one year or not driving more than 110 million miles in an average passenger car.
