Phoenix superintendent leaves to run California college

Raj Chopra moves to higher education after decades as K-12 administrator.

Phoenix Union High School District Superintendent Raj Chopra is leaving his post to become the new president of Southwestern College in Chula Vista, Calif. Chopra, 70, has been superintendent in Phoenix since 2001. The new job will be Chopra's first administrative position in higher education; he has been a superintendent in Ohio, Iowa, Kansas, Texas, Pennsylvania and Arizona.
