New elementary in Palmyra Area (Pa.) district will be built green
From The Harrisburg Patriot-News: The Palmyra Area (Pa.) School Board has approved seeking green school certification for its new elementary school. LEED certification could add about $420,000 to the estimated $25 million project, but state reimbursement could be available to offset it. Energy savings will offer additional cost savings. In addition to a geothermal heating/cooling system, the school will feature use 20 to 40 percent less water, and have a green roof with plantings to reduce water runoff and lessen energy usage. The building design will admit daylight into most classrooms, and bike racks and showers for staff use.
