Five middle-high schools will open in Baltimore

Campuses will operate independently from city district, similar to charter schools

The Baltimore city school board has approved the creation of five middle-high schools. The middle-high schools are a major initiative in school chief Andres Alonso's effort to revamp the troubled system. The five middle-high schools will operate independently under contracts with outside operators, in a structure similar to charter schools.
