Houston district may alter school starting times to save money

From The Houston Chronicle: To save an estimated $1.2 million, Houston school district officials are considering standardizing the times the school day starts and ends. For high school students, the first bell would ring at 7:45 a.m. — at least half an hour earlier than most campuses start now. Middle schools would start at 8:45 a.m., and elementary schools would begin at either 7:30 a.m. or 8:30 a.m.
