High court will hear case challenging affirmative action in college admissions

White student says policy prevented her from gaining admission to University of Texas
Feb. 21, 2012

From The Washington Post: The U.S. Supreme Court said has agreed to reconsider whether affirmative action may be considered when public higher-education institutions choose which students to admit, revisiting a 2003 decision that allows race as a factor in admission decisions. The court will hear a white student’s contention that the University of Texas’s race-conscious admission policy cost her a spot in the freshman class. The justices will hear arguments in the case in October.
