Kansas City (Kan.) board revokes school's charter

Holman Academy was faced with a significant budget deficit
April 5, 2010
From The Kansas City Star: The Kansas City (Kan.) school board has voted to revoke the charter of Holman Academy elementary school because of a significant budget shortfall from the charter board. The North East Business Association, which sponsors the school, privately collected about $70,000 for the school. That was well short of the charter board’s contracted goal of $500,000. Holman is the only charter school in the district. Although the school has lost its charter, the district has indicated that it might keep the school open and operate it as a regular district school.
