Rural districts drop lawsuit over Georgia school funding

On the eve of trial, a new judge was assigned to the case

A group of rural school districts has withdrawn a lawsuit against Georgia over how the state pays for schools after the four-year lawsuit was assigned to a new judge. The Consortium for Adequate School Funding in Georgia says it will take other action, including filing a new lawsuit in another state court. Opening statements in the case were scheduled to begin Oct. 21. The group was concerned that it would not receive a fair hearing under the new judge.
